The PADI Specialty Wreck Diver provides diver training to allow the divers to learn how to explore and safely navigate around a wreck. This course includes four Adventure Dives and four fun dives.


  • Must be a PADI Adventure Diver or the equivalent from a recognized dive organisation.
  • Must be 15 years or older.
  • Must be in good health (Divers with a history of medical illness must obtain a certificate from a doctor allowing them to dive.)


Option # 1
  • Day 1: 8 AM – 3 PM: Knowledge Reviews with 1 Wreck Dive and 1 Reef Dive. 
  • Day 2: 8 AM – 3 PM: Knowledge Reviews with 1 Wreck Dive and 1 Reef Dive. 
  • Day 3: 8 AM – 3 PM: Knowledge Reviews with 1 Wreck Dive and 1 Reef Dive. 
  • Day 4: 8 AM – 3 PM: Knowledge Reviews with 1 Wreck Dive and 1 Reef Dive.
Option # 2 (Student must be a EAN Nitrox certified diver.)
  • Day 1: 8 AM – 12 PM or 12 PM –  4 PM: Knowledge Reviews with  2 Wreck Dives on Free Nitrox.
  • Day 2: 8 AM – 12 PM or 12 PM –  4 PM:: Knowledge Reviews with  2 Wreck Dives on Free Nitrox.

*Students should wait at least 18 hours after their last dive before flying.

Divers may check the Medical Statement here in advance. A doctors certificate is only required when:

  • Wreck dives conducted on the Felipe Xicoténcatl C-53 Wreck.

Pick up service is not included. Guests need to make their own way to our dive center for the trip meeting point.

The theory session takes place in our custom-built air conditioned classroom. The classroom theory and video will take 2- 3 hours approximately. We recommend this is done the afternoon/ evening before the first dive day. You will need to meet us at the shop the day before so we can give you the educational material.

(Day 1): Specialty Wreck Dive # 1

Dive 1: Identify potential hazards, maintain proper buoyancy, navigate the wreck from outside

Dive 2: Fun Dive

(Day 2): Specialty Wreck Dive # 2

Dive 3: Map the wreck, determining the size and points of interest. Survey for penetration dive and evaluate possible entrances

Dive 4: Fun Dive

(Day 3): Specialty Wreck Dive #3

Dive 5: Demonstrate the deployment and retrieval of penetration lines outside of wreck. Navigate to ascent point.

Dive 6: Fun Dive

(Day 4):Specialty Wreck Dive #4

Dive 7: Plan and perform a wreck penetration

Dive 8: Fun Dive

Upon completion the student is presented with a temporary PADI Wreck Diver certificate that enables diver to participate in wreck dives while waiting for their full dive certificate card to arrive from PADI headquarters.


Must be over the age of 15 years.
Must be healthy to dive.
Must complete 4 wreck specialty dives.
Must be an Adventure Diver.
