More Details

(Part 1): Theory and video sessions

The theory and video sessions take place in our air conditioned classroom or beach side restaurant. There are 3 modules of theory and subsequently 3 videos for each module. Each video can take between 45 -60 minutes to watch. Many of our students vote to watch the videos and self-study at their hotel the day before the course starts and in this way they can free up the workload for the following day. Each module is proceeded by a discussion with our PADI Instructor and the study sessions are checked with the use of pop quizzes, or multiple choice quizzes to help monitor the students progress and understanding of the material.
The first day we shall start around 8 AM and complete the theory sessions that was left off the previous day.

Did you know that you can complete the theory in advance of arriving by using PADI’s eLearning classes available at PADI’s website? Please see here for more information: Open Water eLearning.

(Part 2): Confined Water Training

Confined Water Training means learning to dive in water which is shallow enough to stand up. Our confined water training takes place on the beach in a natural environment. At this point the students will start to develop the skills required to learn to dive. Each skill is carefully explained by the diving instructor and then demonstrated by the instructor, so the student may feel confident that they can perform the skill themselves. Diving skills are developed starting with the easier skills and progress as the student’s confidence and ability progresses. Just like the theory and video sessions, there are 3 confined water training modules.

(Part 3): Open Water Dives

To complete the PADI Scuba Diver the student must participate in the 2 open water dives. Open water dives 1 and 2 are conducted on the same day to a maximum depth of 12 meters – 40 feet. The dives can be done from the shore on Villablanca Reef or on our dive boat which  travels out to the Cozumel Reefs and to some of the best dive sites the Caribbean has to offer. Each dive is approximately an hour long and there is a light lunch and snacks & refreshments provided between the boat dives.

Upon completion the student is presented with a temporary PADI Scuba Diver certificate that enables the newly certified diver to participate in any fun dives while waiting for their main dive certificate card to arrive from PADI headquarters.

Must be over the age of 15 years (10 to 14 years old will be PADI Junior Scuba Divers).
Must be healthy to dive.
