PADI Night Specialty: The thought of dipping below the surface at night seems mysterious, yet so alluring. Although you’ve been scuba diving at a site many times before, at night you drop into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light. The scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge. If you’ve wondered what happens underwater after the sun goes down, sign up for the PADI Night Specialty course.
At night, on our house reef it is very common to see octopus hunting, squids hovering above, crabs, lobsters and shrimps crawling everywhere. You will find the reef is very different from when the sun is up. Most of the fish hide or change to very dull colors while many marine animals come out of hiding to spend the night on the prowl, searching for a meal. Soft and hard corals will become fuzzy as their mouth retract to catch the drifting zooplankton which is also bioluminescent.
Night dives in Cozumel form shore on from the boat are simply amazing !
