The PADI Boat Diver specialty shows you the broad, basic procedures used when diving from boats. You learn about using current lines, different entry and exit procedures, and the organisation of getting kitted up for the dive. Besides these procedures, you also learn useful information like how to pack for boat diving, avoiding seasickness, boating basics and boating emergencies.
Day 1: | 8am to 3pm | Theory Session and 2 Shore or Boat Training Dives |
This PADI Specialty course consists of two main phases:
1. Knowledge development sessions:
To develop the student’s knowledge of dive boats — proper boat diving etiquette, personal conduct, and basic dive boat terminology, local boat diving laws and/or ordinances.
2. Two boat training dives to practice techniques learned on how to behave on a dive boat.
The purpose of the PADI Boat Diver Specialty course is to familiarize you with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of diving from a boat. The Boat Diver Specialty course is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introduction to boat diving. Training emphasizes fun and safety.
Two open water dives will help you apply the course information to a real-world diving situation. To develop your ability to perform important boat diving skills, boat diving entries/exits, use of emergency/safety equipment and, in some situations, basic boating skills.
