Cenote Dos Ojos
Cenote Dos Ojos Info
Cenote Dos Ojos is a spectacular sinkhole with large pools of turquoise water in a lush jungle park. Dos Ojos means “two eyes” in Spanish and describes the two cenotes close together known as the east and west eyes. From the east eye, 4 lines lead into the cavern making for two different circuits: Barbie Line & Bat Cave.
Dos Ojos is part of the Sac Actun system, the longest underwater cave system in the world at 364 km / 226 miles.
The Dos Ojos underwater cave system was featured in the 2002 IMAX film “Journey into Amazing Caves” and the 2006 BBC Discovery Channel series “Planet Earth” episode 4 “Caves” and parts of the Hollywood 2005 movie “The Cave” were filmed there.
The Barbie Line are the two lines that are on your right and leads you through a huge tunnel filled with light shows and giant stalactites. The Barbie Line is decorated with many columns and massive stalactites & stalagmites which you will see during the whole dive.
The Bat Cave leads you into massive caverns then to a cathedral-like air dome with its ceiling covered in stalactites and thousands of fruit bats.
